Biography
Mayme Kratz was born in San Diego, CA in 1958. She has lived in Phoenix, AZ since 1986. The artist works with found natural materials preserved in resin. An observant investigator of her surroundings, Kratz collects found natural objects while hiking and camping. The self-educated artist apprenticed with James Hubell while in her 20’s, honing her skills in Glass window construction, mosaics, stained glass as well as three-dimensional glass sculpture.In addition to her solo exhibitions at The Tucson Museum of Art and The Tacoma Museum of Glass, Kratz has been in group exhibitions at The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Phoenix Art Museum and Blue Star Art in San Antonio, Texas.
