Media Description: Ceramic

I am from Ogden Utah. I began my ceramics career in 1994 as a junior in high school. I had flunked out of calculus and was looking to make up the credits with an easy class. Pottery, while not as simple as I anticipated, proved to be a successful match. I continued on to earn a BFA in ceramics from Weber State University in 2005 and a MFA in ceramics from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2008.

I completed a two-year residency at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana as well as one year at the Roswell Artist in Residence program in New Mexico.

Sara, my wife, is my main pillar of support and often helps in the laborious process of sorting and glazing the tens of thousands of extrusions that I produce for a project. Our nine-year-old son, Braxton, entertains us all the while. His ceramic skills have yet to manifest but his sword skills are notable. Leena is five years old and is quite useless as a studio assistant but adorable nonetheless. Our newest member, Deklan, is two. Currently we reside in Roswell, New Mexico.
